Please note that all the papers accepted as oral presentations should present in person. The deadline to submit the final presentation materials is Feb. 27 on the submission website https://nvmw2023.hotcrp.com/. Please submit the following items by the deadline:
- The final version of the 2-page abstract.
- A 2-minute video of the lightning talk.
- Title, presenter’s bio, headshot, and affiliation.
The in-person presentation will be 15 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A. All the accepted papers are invited to be presented in the poster session at NVMW. The poster boards we will provide at the venue are designed for 36″ x 48″ in either portrait or landscape modes. Please design your posters with this restriction in mind.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The 14th Annual Non-Volatile Memories Workshop (NVMW 2023) provides a unique showcase for outstanding research results on non-volatile memories. The topics include but are not limited to devices, error-correcting codes, architectures, systems, and applications. In previous years, the workshop typically had around 50 speakers from top universities, industrial research labs, and device manufacturers and attracted nearly 200 attendees.
The organizing committee of NVMW 2023 is soliciting presentations on any topic related to non-volatile memories. Presentations may include new results or work that has already been published during the 18 months prior to the submission deadline. In lieu of printed proceedings, we will post the slides and extended abstracts of the presentations online. Presentation of new work at the workshop does not preclude future publication.
NVMW 2023 will also present four awards: (1) Persistent Impact Prizes recognizing high-impact research published more than 5 years ago, and (2) Memorable Paper Awards recognizing the best work published in the last 18 months. There will be two awards for each category: one in systems and applications and one in codes and devices. Each award includes a $1000 cash prize.
In addition to presentations on research papers, the workshop will have two new tracks this year: industry track and work-in-progress track. (1) The industry track will accept submissions with the goal of reflecting the trends and values of real memory hardware products, software systems, and new applications from industry. We also encourage submissions that have insightful discussions on the design philosophy and implementation strategies of real systems from industry perspectives. (2) The work-in-progress track will accept papers on research that has new and even crazy ideas in the domain of memory research. We will select the submissions based on their potential to inspire interesting discussions and thoughts, so it is okay if the work is not fully concluded at the time of submission.
Submissions to the workshop are 2-page extended abstracts. The tentative timeline is as follows:

The workshop is planned as an in-person event at UC San Diego. If pandemic circumstances make it necessary, we will revert to an online event. Further details on abstract submission, technical program, tutorials, travel, social program, and travel grant will be provided on this website.
Formatting Instructions
Submission should be 2 pages (including bibliography) in the standard two-column conference format. There are no strict formatting requirements but use reasonable font sizes and margins, etc. Abstracts should provide a summary of the work with an emphasis on motivation and potential impact. If the work has been published elsewhere, please include an explicit citation of the original paper with a link to a publically-available PDF. Submissions are not blind.
