UC San Diego has hosted the NVMW since the first workshop in 2009. The workshop was started by Steven Swanson, Director of the Non-Volatile Research Lab and Paul Siegel who directed the Center for Magnetic Recording Research (CMRR). CMRR has since become the Center for Memory and Recording Research.
In 2015 and 2016, we held the workshop banquet at Mister A’s, one of the premier restaurants in San Diego. It features amazing views of downtown and the unique opportunity to look down on planes on their approach to San Diego’s airport.

The NVMW Memorable Paper Award is awarded annually to a paper published in the 18 months prior to the NVM submission deadline that is of exceptional quality and is expected to have substantial impact on the fields of study related to non-volatile memories.
