NRCIO: NVM-aware RDMA-based Communication and I/O Schemes for Big Data Analytics
Abstract: Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) technologies can offer byte-addressability with DRAM-like performance and persistence. In this paper, we propose a high-performance runtime, called NRCIO, which is designed with NVM-aware RDMA-based Communication and I/O schemes for Big Data analytics. Our preliminary studies show that through NRCIO, we can significantly improve the communication, I/O, and application performance for Big Data analytics middleware, such as HDFS, HBase, Spark, Memcached, etc.
Bio: Dr. Xiaoyi Lu is a Research Scientist in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Ohio State University, USA. His research interests include high-performance interconnects and protocols, NVM, Big Data, Hadoop/Spark/Memcached, Parallel Computing, MPI/PGAS, Virtualization, and Cloud Computing.
